10/15/07 - Transformers DVD - TCC Review:
The Transformers Two-Disc Special Edition DVD comes out this Tuesday and of course the first thing you are going to want to do is watch the movie. If you loved it in the theater you won't be disappointed as the DVD quality is excellent and seeing the movie on the small screen (or mid sized screen depending on the flat panel you may have just bought in anticipation of the release) is truly exciting.

Now, after you have watched the movie you need top pop in that Special Features disc. I think a better title for the disc would have been the "Ultimate Behind the Scenes" feature because that is exactly what you get. Everything is included, from the scouting to the casting, the pre-work that goes into making a movie of the caliber, a look at ILM and Digital Domain, an extended snapshot of what it felt like to be on set and an overall look at everyone who worked to give this film the most realistic feel possible, from top to bottom. If you sat in the theater and were totally sucked into the movie experience, after watching the Special Features disc, you will see why!

The nicest surprise was to see so many people involved with the production talk about the fans, the mythos and how while it was very important to be able to translate this concept to the big screen, that it was also important to be respectful to what had come before, to stay true to what Transformers is at it's heart. The fans at BotCon 2007 are even featured in the Rise of the Robot's segment. It was also great to see that many of the people who worked on the film were also either long time fans or have become fans of the property.

After watching the Special features disc you will appreciate this movie even more for what it is, the perfect hybrid of a CGI FX movie and a true shoot em' up, blow em' up action flick! Michael Bay and Co. delivered on the film and Paramount and the crew really delivered on this awesome DVD release!

Have Optimus Prime give your friends a call! This fun, little feature has just been released on the public and now's the time to give it a try. Not only is this a great way to spread the word about the October 16th release of TRANSFORMERS on DVD and HD-DVD, but it's also a good way to get a couple laughs out of your closest friends. Join the Autobot army and have Optimus Prime make the call!

06/15/07 - We were truly saddened today to find out that Shaun Christopher,
aka CdnTransfan of the Club Boards, has passed away at the very young age of 28. Shaun was a big part of the Club and we were happy to have him as part of the TCC family. More than just a club member, Shaun also served as one of the moderators on the club forums. He was always there to support not just the Club, but the fandom, the brand and the hobby itself. He will be missed dearly.

We on Hasbro Transformers Team were deeply saddened by the news of Shaun Christopher's passing. Shaun was a dedicated member of the Transformers fan community, and we enjoyed seeing and talking to him every year at BotCon. We also lost another loyal Transformers fan earlier this year, William Koshorek. The enthusiasm Shaun and William showed for the Transformers brand reinforced our belief that the work we do at Hasbro has the ability to bring people together in friendship, while entertaining them at the same time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends. They will truly be missed.

Sincerely,
Hasbro Transformers Team
